🌿 S H O U T O U T 🌿

Early childhood educators and teachers across the country go every day into early learning services where they will interact with children of essential workers who could be exposed to COVID-19. They will not be given face masks or protective clothing. They won't get free coffee, half price pizza, or special shopping hours. They will perform their jobs in ways that they have never done before and they will do it with a smile on their faces so that the children in their care don't know how scared they are. Scared for those children, scared for their own. Scared of being responsible for taking the virus home to loved ones. Scared for the world.

Thank you to all the educators, teachers, and anyone else heading into an early learning centre to keep it running so that our amazing health workers and carers can take care of the sick and the vulnerable, so our shops can stay open, and services can continue. You too are heroes!

From the BCCCC Committee of Management to our remarkable team, THANK YOU! You have had to be so flexible, so understanding, and so patient while we navigate these challenging times together as an early years learning community. Thank you for your generosity and for giving so much of yourselves; it won't be forgotten!

Thank you, our family is so grateful for everything you do for us and our community 🙏

Every single one of you are valued and appreciated. What you are doing for the whole community will not be forgotten! Not all heroes wear scrubs... but they may wear someone else’s lunch 👶🏼🍝

🙏 Thank you from the bottom of our hearts... and the hearts of our patients

You all do such an amazing job 💕

And Mandy, you are leading with such heart. Thank you!

Well said ❤️

❤️❤️❤️❤️

ENROLMENT / ATTENDANCE DURING A PANDEMIC

There are a number of processes and levels of assistance in place from the government to help families during these uncertain times, but these measures are only helpful if children stay enrolled, even if you choose to self-isolate. We appreciate that these decisions are very difficult and involve the financial, social, and emotional well being of your family.

We understand that the pandemic has impacted many of our families’ income through job losses or cuts. Please be aware that if you are in this situation, you may be eligible to access up to 13 weeks of fully subsidised fees in order to keep your enrolment at the centre. This can be done through Centrelink, through ‘Temporary Financial Hardship’.

Please speak with Mandy if you require any assistance with this. Our primary focus during this time is the safety and well being of our children, families, and educators, and we are always seeking ways in which to maintain cohesion and provide assistance for our whole child care community. Thank you so much for your support!

We wanted to share this video with you - Dr Rob Gordon is a trauma psychologist who has lots of useful strategies for understanding how people will respond during periods of uncertainty and high stress. It goes for just over three minutes and talks about what you might see in your children, and how to support them further. He does mention going out and socialising with friends - we don't recommend that currently (in person) but maintaining social connection will be super important as we move through the coming weeks and months. ... • COVID-19 UPDATE •

You will have heard about the Victorian government’s proposed measures to be implemented over the coming 24-48 hours (see link: www.abc.net.au/news/2020-03-22/coronavirus-nsw-comprehensive-shutdown-non-essential-services/1207...).

We are awaiting further communication from the Department of Education and Training and the Department of Health, however in the meantime please be aware of the following.

We will be conducting temperature checks on arrival at the service for all children. This will commence tomorrow, Monday 23rd March. We will be strongly enforcing our Illness Policy, and your child will be sent home immediately if they show any of the signs listed on the infographic below. We will be conducting frequent temperature checks throughout the day.

We ask that only one person comes into the service to drop off or pick up a child/ren. There is hand sanitiser at the sign in desk, please use it as you enter and exit the building.

Please, if your child/ren displays any symptoms, keep them at home. It is critical that we all work together in the coming days and weeks as our country takes further measures to slow the spread of coronavirus.

We will communicate all changes as they occur, as we anticipate they will over the next 24-48 hours. Thank you for your understanding!

Happy New Year to all our families,
We know it has been a very challenging start to 2020 for so many Australians including people in our own communities.
We wish to alert parents that the Beechworth Childcare Centre currently plans to open on Tuesday 7th, however we wish to communicate the following advice:
• Air quality due to smoke remains very poor. If your child has asthma or you have any concerns about their health, please consider whether home may be the safest option for them. Please call the centre if you plan on keeping your child/children home for the day.
• As we have seen, the conditions for fire can change rapidly. Please keep in mind that the childcare centre may need to close at short notice as we have staff that live in high risk areas who may not be able to attend.
• We remind you that the centre will be closed on Code Red fire days, however we will be reviewing the risk daily and may need to close on additional days (For example, in the event of a Watch and Act notification from Vic Emergency) for the safety of our staff and children. Please understand that we will not be making these decisions lightly, and that the wellbeing of our staff and children is of the highest concern.

Thank you,
Beechworth Community Childcare Committee

Wanting to organise a gift for your child’s educators but can’t work out what to get? Finding it tricky to think of something that will be meaningful?

The Committee of Management have organised a collection, for staff to use to share a meal or go on an outing in the new year, as a huge thank you for all the remarkable work they do.

There will be a jar near where you sign in for you to pop your contribution into, or alternatively, you can pop it in an envelope in the fees box. There’ll be a card available for you to sign if you wish.

There is absolutely no obligation to be involved - it is totally up to you!
